Brian Barasch was named Executive Director of Great Lakes Theater in October 2024. He brings extensive experience in arts administration and strategic communications, having held leadership positions in both higher education and the performing arts. Most recently, Brian served as Director of External Affairs and Communications at Kent State University’s College of Arts and Sciences, where he led initiatives to elevate the college’s brand and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
Prior to his role at Kent State, Brian was Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications at Moishe House, where he managed crisis communications and led brand strategy during pivotal moments for the organization. He also directed marketing and communications efforts at Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School in Chicago, supporting enrollment and fundraising strategies while guiding messaging throughout the pandemic. Elsewhere in Chicago, Brian has been honored to provide leadership at such venerable institutions as Victory Gardens Theater, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and the arts education non-profit, Marwen.
Brian holds a BFA in Theatre Management from The Theatre School at DePaul University and an MBA from Loyola University Chicago, where he was a Baumhart Scholar. Originally from Cincinnati, by way of Chicago, Brian is thrilled to now call Cleveland his adopted hometown. He lives in the Gordon Square neighborhood with his wife Amy.
